On September 10th and 11, 2003 a historic concert of cantorial music was taped in the revered Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam. In a magnificent candlelit setting of this 17th century synagogue, the three leading Jewish Cantors of our time performed an evening of popular and religious Jewish songs. PBS was there to capture the moment.

Join the Gulf Coast Symphony for this spectacular PBS event and hear Cantors Alberto Mizrahi, Naftali Herstik and Benzion Miller, the most talented living cantors of our time. Be transported to a different time and place through melodies, some of which were passed on aurally for centuries. This concert marks the U.S. premiere of the full-orchestral version, as seen on PBS. A Tribute to Irving Berlin Pops Concert pays homage to the mastery of Irving Berlin. An American composer and lyricist, Berlin was one of the most prodigious and famous American songwriters in history. Berlin was one of the few Tin Pan Alley/Broadway songwriters who wrote both lyrics and music for his songs. Although he never learned to read music beyond a rudimentary level, he composed over 3,000 songs, many of which ("God Bless America", "White Christmas", "Alexander's Ragtime Band", "There's No Business Like Show Business") left an indelible mark on American music and culture. In addition to his individual songs, he also composed 17 film scores and 21 Broadway scores.
