TIMPANI/PERCUSSION

GARY COLSTON (Principal Percussionist) first performed with the orchestra in 1999 and began playing regularly with the orchestra during the 2001-2002 concert season. Following enlistment in the military after high school he played in several USAF Drum & Bugle Corps & ATC Bands. Following discharge from the military, Gary took a hiatus from playing for an approximate thirty years. After relocating to Florida in 1989 and purchasing a retail floral business, Gary decided to resume playing in the mid 90′s. Since that time he has played at a number of churches in the area and with various groups including Edison College Concert Band and with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra as a percussionist and two years as principal timpanist.
