ACCESS CONCERT LECTURES
Classical Access Concerts are designed to make accessible the world of classical to audience members of all ages. Each work is preceded by an engaging conversation with Music Director Andrew M. Kurtz, to help each audience member understand musical elements, composition and historical anecdotes. While explaining the composer’s perspective, Kurtz often asks the orchestra or guest artists to demonstrate specific passages. The passages become recognizable, familiar and simple. Where appropriate, Kurtz opens the floor for questions and participation. This “hands on” approach gives meaning and accessibility to classical music.
